Picking your white: Zoya Purity vs. Zoya Snow White

A white is white...or so a man would say, but WE know better. Although even hubby was astonished at the difference. I held my nails up and he asked, "Why are those whites different?" So if a man notices you KNOW they are different.

So, funny story, my friend over at Constantly Redone ordered Zoya Snow White and I ordered Zoya Purity. I wanted a soft and squishy white and she was looking for a stark, clean white. We got the opposite of what we wanted. Observe:

Above is Snow White and then Purity - I forgot to type it on there. Great oversight right? ;)

Nitty gritty - you can see from the images that it is, in face, Snow White that is squishy and soft and slightly less opaque while Purity is stark, crisp, clean and more opaque. These are both one coat over a clear base coat with no top coat.

Up now to two coats and Purity is completely opaque and Snow White is nearly opaque. Despite the image they both self-level beautifully but they just each have their own purposes. In the end my dear friend and I ended up swapping and got the white we were looking for. Maybe this will help you choose the right white from the start. Until next time!

  1. The thing is, they need to do comparisons themselves over at Zoya when doing their "intensity" ratings, because these two are totally off.
I imagine it's because they're from different collections and years, so different "fairies" were rating them, but a side by side would clear things up a lot!

    1. Absolutely agreed! I'm glad we managed to get what we wanted in the end but it's got to be sad for those ordering blindly. :(

    2. It is sad. I have Zoya Snow White and it wasn't what I was looking for.

  2. Ahh, good to know! I'm happy enough with my Milani White on the Spot but the search for the perfect white creme seems to be neverending for lots of us and I think Snow White'll be in my future. Thanks for the comparison ♥

    1. I've never tried Milani on the spot but I hear it's a close and stark white like Sally Hansen White On - you definitely need Snow White for your squishy white OR I hear Essie Marshmallow is a nice, squishy white too. Also you're welcome! <3

  4. Thanks for this comparison! If you can believe it, I don't have any white cremes. I was looking at Purity and Snow White, and getting confused as to which one I should get, so I didn't end up getting any lol. I know now that Snow White's the one I would prefer. :-)

  5. Which one do your recommend for french tips? I have Sally White On and am really unhappy with the goopy formula. I have three Zoya polishes and their formula is phenomenally smooth. I would really like a smooth applying white for tips.

  6. Which polish would you recommend for french tips? I'm partial to the softer white in color, but I'm looking for a smooth application without many coats. I have Sally Hansen White On and am really unhappy with the goopy application so I'm looking to replace it.
