The rather humourous story I'll be telling with my nails...

...began this past Saturday night when I headed to a friend's house for a girl's night. Her parents out of town meant we could invade the hot tub (which actually sounds like the start to an intriguing teenage tale precluding an embarrassing weekend event but I digress). Bathing suits on and towels wrapped around our middles we headed out into the incredibly cold winter night in bare feet or flip flops:
Dark, cold sky above threatening to dump rain on us as we opened the umbrella to protect us from such a possible, angry down pour.
Such is what we Oregonians call winter swimming.
Umbrella opened and our freezing toes ready to enjoy the bubbling warmth of Oregon swimming we slipped into the frothing waters enjoying the prickling sensation of icy appendages thawing in the simmering liquid.
With a deep sigh I lean back to relax and allow my muscles to give way to massaging jets a sudden, searing pain ripped through my back! Panicked I squealed and leaned forward to probe the spot of radiating pain in the center of my back. I found a somewhat engorged and swollen area and my mind jumped to the worst: a black widow was hiding in the above mentioned umbrella radiating in the dark, warmth provided. Never mind it could have been any number of insects but in my brain I was on the verge of death! My girls looked the spot over and we rationalized it out as a flying ant. Those, as you know, are middle of the winter sorts. Alright actually they are late spring/early summer but that's practically the same! After a few minutes I was still breathing and finally let go of the black widow idea. Deciding we were quite done we move the umbrella and the light hits the water revealing:
A bee. Flapping it's wings in a circle in it's watery grave. Somewhat red faced I followed them inside and will probably forever endure jokes surrounding my near death experience forever more.
So that is the story of how I am so talented that on a cold winter night in Oregon I managed to, while in a hot tub, get stung by a bee. AND LIVED TO TELL THE TALE!

  1. Rofl. Oh, you poor dear. The pain! The humiliation! Well, if you can't embarass the living tar out of yourself in front of good gfs, then... ;) LOVE the storyboard mani and the way you presented the whole thing is superb.

  3. Hahahaha, this was a wonderful tale told on your nails. And by wonderful I mean that the story medium was wonderful, not the injury!
