In the trenches of summertime

Yeah. I've been gone. It's summertime. I have no a/c. I have a daycare kiddo. Plus my four kiddos. After feeling a little guilty for a second about not having posted or, actually, keeping up on most anything nail polish related I needed to reflect for a second.

Honestly I feel a little bit scattered. I haven't done any design in a month or really pursued any of my passions. Mainly it's a little like being on a herd of bucking broncos and hanging on for dear life.

Another thing I noticed. My love of neons seems to have been misplaced. Also my extreme love of bright colors seems misplaced. While we're at it so has my passion for nail art. SAY WHAT?! They are probably with all the sock mates hiding on some tropical beach being personally waited on by a GQ model. Some things get all the luck.

So here in no a/c land, in the trenches, the battle of summer time is being waged one trip to the library, pool, fun event, or fair at a time. With crispy lobster mommy who is so concerned about making sure the troops are drowned in sunblock that she forgets to spritz herself down. What better color to commemorate my desire to end summer and escape blinding brights then Zoya Yara? Below is direct sunlight.

Since I'm a little tired of nail art but love combinations I pulled out my bottle of Brash Copper Crunch (it's a glitter topper packed with copper flakes, and both copper and gold hexes). Below is indirect sunlight.

I also notice I cleaned a little too rigorously on the pinky nail. Ah well - capturing the glitter in Yara with the half gradient of Copper Crunch requires certain angles.

See how pretty? I now feel like I can make it! Till the next sunburn anyhow *cringes*. Please get here start of school!!!

Let's Layer: Shamrockin' with Emilie

So I posted a while back about Huemorista Shamrockin' Green that Constantly Redone doted on me with. I was saddened by the polish since it wasn't as vibrant as the pictures had shown and was quite thin. The bottle is tiny and it's a gorgeous polish but with there being so little of it I feel hesitant to use it. Well when I got Julep Emilie a solution presented itself:

A single layer of Shamrockin' Green over a layer of Emilie brings the earthy green and the gorgeous glitter right out without having to use so much! It's pretty much perfect <3

I went ahead and did an accent nail though I can't remember the color (if you see the burn on my finger there and you've read my blog for awhile you'll know this manicure is month's old!). But I DO know that glitter. It's Copper Crunch by Brash which is hand's down one of my most favorite glitters. I think I'll be doing some more Let's Layer posts. My daughter loves to mix polish so I'll get her in on the action. Until next time!

P.S. My toddler is intentionally rolling off the couch, yelling OW, laughing hysterically, and then doing it all over again. What.a.boy.

Crunch polka dot combination

I am soooo in love with polka dots lately! Can not get enough of them!!! In upcoming manicure you'll see they can go terribly wrong, but this manicure I simply ADORE them!

I took pictures at each step in case I took a wrong turn.

My base is Julep Olivia. It's a warm and rich creme brown. I just love how glossy it is even without a top coat! This is one coat.

Polka dots are courtesy of dotting tools and Julep Miranda which is this incredible gorgeous dusty teal color.

Finally it's topped off with Brash Copper Crunch. It's a smaller glitter that contains gold, copper, and silver in small hex and flecks. I just LOVE it!
