Hubby Says: Rainbow Dash

It's been a little while since I did a layers inspired by My Little Pony. After this I only have two more in the series and then I will be beginning a whole new series that I've been planning for quite some time now. For now Rainbow Dash (and probably my favorite pony):
She is kind of a tomboy so I avoided all sparkle. She's fast and she's cool and I just love her!
Base color is Essence Absolutely Blue then I striped on in this order from the tip down: Julep Anne, Julep Jaimie, Wet N' Wild Undercover Graffiti, Zoya Creamy, Wet N' Wild Scratchiti, Wet N' Wild Writings on the Wall. For those of you unfamiliar with this great pony:

Also I have a guest post up over at Geeky Owl. Be sure to check out what I did with two of the Zoya Pinterest minis I got and give her a follow while you're at it - you won't regret it!

Hubby Says: Applejack!

Layers inspired by My Little Pony Friendship Magic continues! Hubby said an orange to yellow gradient with red glitter would be perfect for Applejack. He was sooo right!
I LOVE Applejack. She's down to Earth and no frills while being such a great friend to all her other ponies. Right now the three year old is standing next to me excitedly saying Applejack over and over. He adores My Little Pony.
As it works out this combination is the PERFECT summertime manicure too! Lucky me <3 Base is Julep Hayden, then Zoya Creamy sponged down and topped off with the Snowman polish in Ori. Chunky.
For those of you wondering who Applejack is:

Monday PaA Challenge: Holy Mother of Monarch Wings!

I have been scared to death of doing this manicure type since I first saw it last year. But, with the push of a challenge and this tutorial by Dottidal on youtube I did my very first Monarch Butterfly wings! It's nowhere near as perfect as hers but it's a start:
Not gonna lie I'm pretty freaking proud of this. From base up what you see is Zoya Creamy (the only yellow I own), Julep Alicia, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicures Madame X, Zoya Gabrielle, Wet N' Wild Black Creme, and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On. It shimmers and is sooo pretty!
Now for photo overload!!!

Have a great day!! Be bold and try something new - you never know if you can till you try ;)

My ENTIRE yellow collection...in one picture

I asked my hubby to pick a color for me the other day and he says *cue dreadful music* yellow. Do you own a color simply because it feels wrong to not have at least one color of each of the rainbow colors in your collection? That's yellow for me. So here's my entire yellow collection (spruced up a bit):

So this is Zoya Creamy. I bought her just so I would have a yellow. The top half is Zoya Reva and, strangely, I adore how this turned out. Both images are from the first Bundle Monster set (stamped sideways so the image fits the finger).

The thumbnail is in the shade so you can see how it looks without direct sunlight. Also those are NOT Konad stamping polishes. I no longer use stamping polishes. That black is readily available right now and is Wet N' Wild Black Creme (seriously at 0.99 cents how can you go wrong) and the white is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On.
Have a great day everyone! This was one of the last sunny days here. Tears!

Going Punk for the PTC meeting: Candy Corn tutorial

So most people look at a calendar before making major changes to their appearance. Things like first PTC (Parent Teacher Club formerly Parent Teacher Assosciation) or father-in-law's wedding prohibit them from doing something like, say, dye a huge chunk and the tips of their hair bright red. Like so:

Oh the black nails? Yeah about those. So I decide for my PAA candy inspired manicure to do candy corn nails. I've seen bags of them at the store and I WANT THEM SO BADLY! And I have this Rimmel Pro Salon Black Satin nail polish I hadn't used yet, which would display the candy corn so nicely. I get the base on and suddenly realize I don't have time to do the art before the meeting. Wow. Go me. Punk rocker red hair and black nails. I ended up not going...but I did show up to my son's IEP meetin sporting this:
Step 1: Cut strips and lay them down. Don't meet them exactly in the center at the cuticle since candy corn has a rounded tip. My Sally Hansen XtremeWear White Out is nearly gone and goopy to boot so this was super tricky.
Step 2: After the white is dried lay down another strip less then a third down. If you look at a picture of candy corn the orange in the center is bigger then the yellow base or white top:
Step 3: Paint the orange:
Step 4: Lay down another strip of tape. Paint the yellow:
Once dried carefully peel up the tape. I only had enough white to do one and it really could have turned out better but I was in a hurry. I used Sinful Colors UFO to paint over the black on all the other nails and WOW do I just adore this combination:

Tons of glitter - it shines and just looks amazing with orange, green, and blue accents in the glitter itself.
