Hubby's Picks (4): Fruit Salad with Celebrities

Me and my wonky titles! First and foremost I apologize for not posting this on Saturday. I had the mani done on Friday but had a back injury that had me immobile for the entire weekend! What did I do? No clue! Just pain built up on Thursday and by Saturday I couldn't even move. BUT I am back out of bed and moving again! Thankfully cause I was about to loose it. So here it is:
Yeah my first try turned out...clunky and odd. Especially since I was all excited when I finally figured out how to put OPI Love is a Racket with Julep Zoe by sponging:
It looked so blingy and glammy and with the choices he picked (OPI Love is a Racket which is a Serena Williams line polish, Julep Oscar from the Oscars collection, Julep Selena which reminds of Selena Gomez, and Julep Zoe....don't have one for that). Celebrity made sense! But he had the nail art to pick out of so with the fruits added you get my title :)
Thumb looks even more funky - I was going for a vine look. So I tried again on the other hand and it was a winner!!!
Much better!
Strawberries and bananas anyone? Until next time!

Hubby's Picks: You call this a challenge?

So my hubby came up with an idea for a regular post: he goes through my nail polish and picks anywhere from 2-6 polishes and I have to come up with a manicure using ONLY the polishes he pulled out. He's going to pick every Wednesday and I have till Friday to come up with something and then the post goes up on Saturday (day late on week one obviously cause we were working out the details). He's fascinated by my creativity and wants to challenge me. Well he's going to have to try harder:
I've been wanting to try out a mixed prints mani and when I saw the holo I knew the time had come. Here's the lineup he picked out:
We've got China Glaze FYI, Julep Selena, and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Green Tea. Phenomenal! I would never have picked this trio but I freaking LOVE it!

All are natural light except the last one there. I used a variety of dotting tools and striping brushes to pull off this look and I did it on my other hand too only I reversed the colors. I love this manicure so much I don't want to take it off! I did 3 layers of FYI for my base and topped off with 2 layers of OTD for topcoat and we're on day three and still no chips!

In unrelated news my 3 year-old son loves to have me paint his nails but won't let his sister dress him up as a princess. The standards this boy has are odd.....

Stamp it out: Julep Selena over Maggie

When I first saw Julep Maggie I knew I needed to own her. A blueish purple (otherwise known as blurple) with super fine glitter. A friend received Julep Selena in her Maven box and I was stunned by the vintage chic color and knew I needed that one too. This is my entry for the Julep NOTD contest - drop by and give me a vote?

Isn't it fantastic?? I just HAVE to try her over some other colors! My husband did not like this color but I knew the stamping potential was going to be amazing and, sure enough, he loved the final result on this one.

Sorta short today - bottomline Julep cremes are amazing for stamping. BUT they are super spendy sadly enough...then again so is special stamping polish! And I can do a manicure as well as stamp with these. Want to try Julep's at a bargain? Visit here and use the code NEWYEAR2012 for a discount :)
