Mixed print for Easter and Spring

Two things. First I'm totally not ready for Easter. Seriously I ran to the store at midnight last night just to put baskets together for the kids. Today we're swinging by the store to pick up the desert we're supposed to bring to the family get together. Woefully unprepared.

So yesterday, in between all the hustle and bustle, I was attempting roses. I keep seeing these super cute mixed print manicures featuring roses. I, um, painting flower-like things? Basically I need a little more practice on the technique. However, I am at least facing this unprepared day with a manicure. I'm sure you can attest to how that can be a huge help.

The second thing. I never wear yellow. So I'm a little bit proud I stepped outside the box and wore it, because I love the color combination! The four colors I used are Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow, Sally Hansen Green Tea (the mint), Zoya Cynthia (the blackened teal), and Essie Mojito Madness for the leaves.

Let it snow!

So December 1st rolled around and I heard three eager kids go pounding into the living room shouting, "It's winter now!" Followed pretty quickly by, "Hey where's the snow?" Ah kid logic - best thing ever right? Where we are we're lucky to get snow for a couple does in February if at all. What we get is bitter cold with LOTS of rain and wind. Great scene for the holidays right?

Well my bestie came over and brought me a new Sinful Colors called Faceted she had found. Incredible blue to green iridescent bar glitters and small blurple glitter in a blue jelly. I tried one finger swatch to see if it was worth it to build it on it's own and I could tell it'd probably take about 10 coats or more. So over Zoya Cynthia it went:

Add some stamped snowflakes in white (my trusty Sally Hansen White On) with a few half pearl accents and BAM! Winter brought a little snow to this home! The kids LOVED it (but are still curious why no snow has come yet...this may take a few years to sink in.)

Super fun polish - Sinful Colors always make such fun and pretty polishes even if most of them require a little layering to get the most out of them. I don't mind it since I'm usually in for a few coats anyhow. Application is one coat of Zoya Cynthia followed by two coats of Sinful Colors Faceted.

Brash - new Payless Shoestore brand

I watch my friend's kiddos and she, often, shows up with new nail goodies for me to try out. It's a happy arrangement. Introducing the Payless Shoestore nail polish: Brash.

Front and back of the bottle and, obviously, the accent finger is sporting this new color called Sparkling Bricks. Deep burgundy with gold micro glitter flecks. Not overly original but oh so gorgeous! They have several other colors and BOGO1/2off right now so I may be heading back to pick up a few other pretties. Brush is nice - not too stiff and doesn't seem to shed. Wonderful fall color. Pictures is 2 coats with a tip of Zoya Reva.

The other nails are adorned with Zoya Cynthia - another polish she passed on since she was one of the Smoke and Mirrors winners (seriously how lucky is that?!). But it's like I win too so I'm not complaining *winks* 2 coats and tipped with Zoya Kotori.

I'm still doing the accent thing

The accent nail has become iconic and I'm still loving it after it's died down a little. It's like a tiny splash of extra personality and an easy way to have an excuse for only stamping two nails instead of every nail. Observe:

The blue is Zoya Cynthia and the orangey-red is Crushed by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. Cynthia also adorns my accent finger in stamped form (so she does stamp though she looks more black then blue when stamped out) and the crackle is from the metals collection from China Glaze.

I'm not feeling witty - mainly tired. Today was my oldest babies first day of 1st grade and I'm exhausted from worrying all day long. He came home super happy and super excited about school so I'm more at peace, but boy it's been a day!
